Last night at 9:51 PM, I completed the final edits from the proofreader. Today, Ginny did one more round of edits, and the file left the nest for IngramSpark, the printer. The file runs through “the gumball machine” for 3-5 days, and the paperback is engineered. I picture it like when the scarecrow was in Oz, and they took him all apart and put him back together.

This is another milestone moment…..

Looking ahead, IngramSpark generates an electronic file of the manuscript. It is then approved, and we are ready to print and ship a physical book for review. The hardback file can not be sent until the paperback file is 100% complete. And the hardback files for the cover, jacket, and interior are then generated, approved, and sent to IngramSpark. The aim is to have both hardback and paperback books in hand on April 27th. That is a full six days ahead of the release date. It is tight, but should be doable.

The Forbes.com article will drop on May 3rd, the day after the release date. Data shows that Sunday drops get more views than weekday drops. I approved the edits on the Forbes article early in the week.

We can see the end. We’ve started working backwards from the drop-dead date for having hardbacks at the signing parties. The photo backdrops look great for the Derby Day signing party, and then the ones to follow at the wine bars will be equally spectacular.
