April 4th, 1958, at about six o’clock in the evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, I was born. It was Good Friday. My mom reminded us that all three of us kids were born in the early spring when the Redbud tree was blooming in the neighbors yard behind us across the chain link fence. Good Friday has been on my birthday exactly twice since that day, once in 1969 and once in 1980. Since it is a significant holiday, I always look to see how close Good Friday comes to my birthday. So you would think that I would have paid close attention this year. Nope! Our original plan was to have our launch party for my book, Week Minded, on my birthday, Saturday, April 4, 2026. How did I miss that Saturday, 4/4/26, was the Saturday of Easter weekend. We are now looking at different Saturdays in April as an alternative. Stay tuned. Rest assured, your Redbud tree will still be blooming.
On the Author’s Journey, this was another big week with very minor changes in the manuscript and more work refining the cover. As you can imagine, the holidays slowed the progress a bit, but we will be moving rapidly through the thaw of the year, rounding up the foreword and the afterword, finalizing the inside design, and creating the final manuscript for proofreading and production.
Today, I am sitting in a modest but classy guest room about 20 miles from downtown Austin, Texas, at the Wizard Academy about to spend three-plus days in a learning immersion on the science of communication. It is very much a Harry Potter-type environment. This experience is a gift from my great friend and fellow Jack Daniels, Tennessee Squire, Gair Maxwell. I would not have been able to attend this remarkable learning experience otherwise.
So, as I search for the Holy Grail, the Golden Snitch, or Sankara Stones this week, tell me what you are hoping to find in 2026? What is missing for you that you hope to find?
