There is nothing celestially magical about the date chosen for the start of the new year. But here we are – 2026. We find ourselves at a time where much of the world reassesses, recommits, and realigns. We reset many things in our lives at this appointed time because, on this date, we said goodbye to the past 365 days and hello to counting the next year’s days. WEEK MINDED is about a weekly reset. Daily seems too rigid and does not leave enough time to make adjustments before we reset for another day. Weekly seems right. It gives us seven reawakening’s to adjust and accomplish our weekly goals.
This week was about my own reflection. I lost a high school great friend to natural causes over the week. I knew him for more than half century. It is a reminder to “make each day count” as Lou Holtz wrote me in a note for my fiftieth birthday. Admittedly, I got a late start on the best part of my life. The part where I am finally comfortable in my own skin. But I have my head down and am charging forward.
How about this awesomeness! Janette Marx, CEO of Airswift and author, Sue Burnett, CEO of Burnett Specialists and author, Dr. Juliet Breeze, CEO of Next Level Medical, Alan Brush, Partner at Solution Spark, and Liz Townsend, Senior Partner at Allen Austin Consulting, offered very gracious and beautiful endorsements of the book that now appear on the first page of the website. Darryl Preen, CIO of ARCXIS, began work on moving the website to a platform that supports the book sales and handles some of the back-office accounting. Deb, the award-winning editor doing the heavy lifting had very few changes on ROUND 2 of edits, and it appears that we are on track for a book release in late March so we can have books in hand in April.
My word for 2026 is ONWARD! I am so excited for the book release and all of the fun rolling it out and speaking and writing in support of it. Also, seemingly prematurely, I am quietly working on the next book that may be titled something like, WHATs are Easy. HOWs are Hard. It could be an attempt to take the life lessons of “Week Minded” and make them actionable. A few years back in a conversation with Stephen M. R. Covey, author of The Speed of Trust, and son of Stephen R. Covey, he wholeheartedly endorsed the concept. Let’s see where that ideal lands in the coming year.
What is your motivational word or rallying cry for 2026? See you next week.
